Requirements for fleet vehicles in construction and surveying.

At GP Vehicle Accessories we work on a fair amount of fleet vehicles particularly those used in construction or surveying work. In this example we are working on a 2020 Mitsubishi Triton, installing customer specified equipment including:

• Reverse squawker/ buzzer

• Revolver Micro Bar (Strobe Lamp)

• Pure Sine Wave Inverter

• Fire Extinguisher

Firstly, the amber strobe light (Revolver Micro Bar) is mounted onto the canopy towards the front end of the canopy/ vehicle and wiring routed into the cabin to a switch on the vehicle's dashboard. This particular revolver micro bar is manufactured by Roadvision and is a low profile 360' high intensity LED bar that requires just a single bolt to mount in place. The housing is made from tough polycarbonate, is vibration proof and has an IP67 waterproof rating. Additionally, it works on wide range of voltage between 10V and 30V with low current draw. The part number for the lamp we use is RLB250Y.

Next the reverse squawker or buzzer. This is available directly from GP Vehicle Accessories which we keep on the shelf. The squawker is wired to the reverse signal so will sound automatically when engaging reverse gear. There is an additional override switch installed onto the panel of the dash allowing you to manually turn the squawker off as it's not something your neighbours will appreciate in the early hours of the morning! Below is a short video demonstrating the audible noise that the squawker makes.

On the passenger side of the vehicle we have mounted a fire extinguisher at the passengers feet (these are available from Bunnings Warehouse), and under the passenger seat a Redarc 350W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter. The Pure Sine Wave Inverter can run your phone and camera chargers, GPS unit, computers, surveying equipment and laptop computers.

Lastly, you'll see in the image below the switches that we've mounted on the dash or centre console which maintain the OE/ factory look of the vehicle and require no drilling or cutting. They simply replace the plastic blanks and are pre-marked with labels for "Reverse Beeper" and "Beacon Light". The switches have an amber coloured illumination or back light so are clearly visible at night.
